Transverse thermoelectric generation using magnetic materials

نویسندگان

چکیده

The transverse thermoelectric effect refers to the conversion of a temperature gradient into charge current, or vice versa, which appears in conductor under magnetic field material with spontaneous magnetization. Among such phenomena, anomalous Nernst materials has been receiving increasing attention from viewpoints fundamental physics and applications owing rapid development spin caloritronics topological science. In this research trend, conceptually different phenomenon appearing thermoelectric/magnetic hybrid demonstrated, enabling generation large thermopower. Here, we review recent progress applied studies on using materials. We anticipate that perspective will further stimulate activities lead next-generation thermal energy harvesting heat-flux sensing technologies.

Thermoelectric energy conversion using nanostructured materials

High performance thermoelectric materials in a wide range of temperatures are essential to broaden the application spectrum of thermoelectric devices. This paper presents experiments on the power and efficiency characteristics of lowand mid-temperature thermoelectric materials. We show that as long as an appreciable temperature difference can be created over a short thermoelectric leg, good pow...

Bismuth Telluride and Its Alloys as Materials for Thermoelectric Generation

Bismuth telluride and its alloys are widely used as materials for thermoelectric refrigeration. They are also the best materials for use in thermoelectric generators when the temperature of the heat source is moderate. The dimensionless figure of merit, ZT, usually rises with temperature, as long as there is only one type of charge carrier. Eventually, though, minority carrier conduction become...

Oxide Based Thermoelectric Materials for Large Scale Power Generation

The thermoelectric (TE) devices are based on the Seebeck and Peltier effects, which describe the conversion between temperature gradient and electricity. The effectiveness of the material performance can be described by its figure of merit, ZT, which is defined as ZT = T , where a is the Seebeck coefficient of the material, a is the electrical conductivity and K is the total thermal conductivit...

Porous Thermoelectric Materials

Thermoelectric materials are sometimes prepared using a sintering process in which the achievement of a high density is often one of the objectives. However, it has recently been shown that the introduction of a highly porous material is desirable in synthetic transverse thermoelements. Porosity may also be an advantage in conventional longitudinal thermoelectric modules in which a high thermal...

Thermoelectric Transport in Nanoscale Materials

Measurements of thermoelectric transport coefficients yield important information regarding fundamental properties of a system in addition to the information supplied from the electronic transport measurements. In this thesis we report gate dependent and temperature dependent conductance (G) and thermoelectric power (TEP) measurements made in three different basic nanomaterials: single-walled n...
